For Steve Ray, cooking isn’t just a job—it’s a passion that’s been 50 years in the making. From the moment he stepped into his first kitchen, Steve discovered the magic that food has to bring people together. Whether it's a smoked pulled pork sandwich, a bacon-loaded burger, or a simple hotdog done right, his goal has always been the same: to make people happy, one meal at a time.

Steve grew up learning from Mema and Papa, two incredible cooks who taught him that good food isn’t just about taste—it’s about love, laughter, and creating moments that stick with you. Their lessons inspired him to create a food truck that could share that same warmth and comfort with everyone.

Why "Whistle Stop"?
The name "Whistle Stop" holds a special place in Steve’s heart. He got it from his parents, Mema and Papa, who often talked about small-town railway stops where people could take a break, enjoy a meal, and share stories. Steve wanted to recreate that feeling with his food trailer—a friendly pause on life’s journey where good food and good company come together to make lasting memories.

More Than Just a Meal
For Steve, cooking is about more than feeding people. He wants each person who visits to leave with a full belly and a full heart. You'll hear his infectious laugh as he jokes with customers and see the joy in his eyes as he watches people savor their food.
